Death to the Non-Bendy Cables!!!!

Okay, I have finally turned the heel and I am most of the way done with the foot of the sock I mentioned in the last post. I must say, I love working with this yarn, but I am NOT happy with the needles! I never thought I'd say it, but these addi's are driving me nutso! I bought some KnitPicks fixed circulars a while back and they are fantastic; (not to mention a third the price of addi's) smooth knitting, pointy tips, very bendy flexy cable. Lo-ove it! (For those Moms out there, imagine Wheezie from Dragon Tales saying that) Well, I didn't have any KP in the size I needed, so I broke out my beloved addi's. Ugh. There is a microscopic barb on the tip of one of them making my finger tip hurt (I push my stitches on and off the needles) and the damn cable is not bending cooperatively! Gr. I think I may put these aside for a bit and work on the socks I decided to make for my Dad's wife.

Maybe.

Maybe I'll just push through and get the damn things done and out of the way. Then I can fondle a new project.

Anyway, on the personal side, Mouth has finally been diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome and we are trying to find a med and dosage that helps him. I am so afraid of him starting school and being picked on for something he has no control over. The tics have worsened to the point that it affects his walking at times, the vocal is almost a constant (and getting louder) and the facial grimaces are extremely noticeable. I'm with him all the time and I have been able to pretty much tune them out; it's just Mouth, you know? It's part of who he is. But he gets looks in the stores and as a protective mother, I have looked right back (these are adults looking, BTW) and say, "Problem? It's not nice to stare." I can't help but get in defensive bitch mode when someone is staring rudely at my son. I hope we can get his medication figured out in the next few weeks because school is starting and I don't want him to be made fun of by students or not allowed to do things like going the the library or movies because he can't be quiet or still.

Maybe I'm expecting only the worst; things could be totally different than they were when I was in school. (They better be or I will have some choice words for the school authorities. Don't mess with the crazy lady! She carries sharp knitting needles everywhere with her!!) I know bullying is not tolerated as much as it was, but then again, he may not be bullied or picked on. Maybe, he'll fit right in and make friends because of the fact that he is one damn cool kid.
